The Grade One pupils of Kaluknayan Elementary School as well as their proud parents and teachers were in high spirits when they received their backpacks full of school supplies on June 8, 2009, courtesy of The Lugaitnons, Inc., a non-profit organization composed of concerned Lugaitnons around the world.
The distribution of school supplies was started at 10:30 am with a short program prepared by the Kaluknayan Elem. School Teaching Force. The singing of Phil. national Anthem was led by Ms. Anna Cecelia Lusdoc, Invocation by Kag. Jason Atoc, Opening Message by Ms. Lorna M. Wahing, Head Teacher, followed by Message from Dr. Amelia Horace, District Supervisor, Message from Brgy. Capt. Sulpicio Ohay, Message from Monroe Insik, TLI representative. The emcee was Ms. Florelin Velarde-Bacatan.

Twenty six (26) Grade One students received the school supplies package. A total of 120 students took part of the light snacks provided by TLI. Lunch was also served to the Teachers, Brgy. Officials, and TLI Volunteers headed by Engr. Monroe Insik, TLI P.R.O., and Engr. Howell Daguman, TLI Incorporator. Willing volunteers present were Micay Sususco, Ching Gabe, Cha2x Lim, and Vanni Rojas. Also present on the said event was Pepit Hataas, who provided his transport service to TLI.
The excess backpacks and school supplies from the 35 pcs allocated budget will be raffled-off to the Grade Two Students of same school.
We would also like to thank Mrs. Lorna Manlawe, a member of The Lugaitnons, Inc. for volunteering her time and resources in obtaining the school supplies from Iligan City and the school bags from Cagayan de Oro City. Special thanks to Mrs. Magdalena Armecin for providing storage for the supplies before distribution.
The Management and Staff of The Lugaitnons, Inc. would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the Donors, volunteers, and to all who supported our "Reach Out So They Can Reach Up" Project. It was indeed a remarkable undertaking towards helping out Lugaitnons who are in need in this tough economic situation.
